Do you play an orchestral instrument and would like to perform classical music under the guidance of a professional conductor and featuring professional soloists, young rising stars and excellent choirs?<\/p>\n
There are no auditions: prospective members attend rehearsals on a trial basis, to enable us to assess your abilities and you, your enjoyment of the orchestral experience.\u00a0 We aim to maintain standard of minimum Gr 7 level and previous orchestra experience is an advantage.\u00a0 If all goes well, you will be invited to join the orchestra as a full member.<\/p>\n
We rehearse in Blairgowrie on Tuesdays, 19h30-22h00 . There is a tea\/coffee break catered by the orchestra.<\/p>\n
Concerts are typically on Saturdays or Sunday afternoon\/evening, 4 to 6 times a year.\u00a0 Our repertoire is mainly symphonic in nature and changes for every concert “season”.\u00a0 \u00a0We typically perform in the Roodepoort Theater, the Linder Auditorium, the Domus Dei Church and\/or at various schools around Randburg.\u00a0 Once a year we may venture as far as Krugersdorp\/Alberton or Sasolburg.\u00a0 Transport is arranged within the orchestra on such occasions due to the cost of coach hire.<\/p>\n
