The Rand Symphony Orchestra invites applications from music students to audition for our annual Youth Concert 2027. Candidates should be of the highest standard (not lower than Grade 6) and currently attending school; or an undergraduate music student at university (age limit 21). An application form is attached.

Closing date for Applications will be 21 February 2027.
An audition fee of R250.00 will be payable on or before Saturday 13 March 2027. The audition venue and schedule will be advised. Applicants and their teachers will be advised of the results of their audition by 22 March 2027. Assistance in payment of the audition fee will be considered for those with financial difficulties. Please approach the orchestra in this regard by emailing youth@randsymphony.co.za.
Candidates are to supply their own accompanist for the audition. As there is only one piano available at the audition venue, piano concerti need not be accompanied.
Candidates can expect auditions of longer works to be curtailed at 8 minutes, to allow adequate time for all applicants.
Successful candidates will be expected to attend at least two assigned evening rehearsals prior to the concert, the general rehearsal on the afternoon before the concert, and the performance.
Each candidate selected to perform will be presented with a certificate at the end of the performance.
